Paving Contract Awarded for Yarmouth County

A $636,300 road-paving contract for Yarmouth County has been awarded by the Department of Transportation and Public Works.

The contract was awarded to Aberdeen Paving Ltd. and involves repaving on Ross Durkee Road from the intersection of Main Shore Road south of Sandford, extending west and north for about 3.5 kilometres until it rejoins Main Shore Road again at Sandford.

"This project is scheduled for completion before the end of October," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "Our department is working aggressively to make our province's paved roads safer and more comfortable for all drivers."

The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
