Tenders Called for Two Road-Improvement Projects in Lunenburg County
Road work scheduled by the province will result in improved safety and a smoother ride in two areas of Lunenburg County.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works has called for a tender to construct turning lanes on Highway 103 at Exit 14. The turning lanes will allow traffic to make a safer left turn from each direction onto Conquerall Road and Camperdown Road. The project also includes realignment of Conquerall Road and other improvements to the intersection. Total distance involved is 3.7 kilometres.
The second tender called involves repaving on two sections of Northfield Road. The first section is from the intersection of Route 325 at Maitland for four kilometres to the intersection of Pine Grove Road. The second section is from the intersection of Mossman Road at Lower Northfield for 2.9 kilometers to Silver Road.
"Road safety is a top priority for us," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "The project on Highway 103 will allow for safer left turns off this busy highway."
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
