Music Takes Centre Stage at Sherbrooke Village
Music will be front and centre this summer as Sherbrooke Village kicks off its summer concert series. An ambitious concert season featuring everything from Ceildhs to classic country music begins today, June 23.
Tonight's show is the first of four Ceilidhs, featuring Sherbrooke musicians Roly and Ellie Burton and Bob MacDonald. Special guests will be AJ Long and George Brothers of Sherbrooke and Colin Greenlaw of Antigonish.
On Thursday, June 30, the Big Blue Eastern Swing Band showcase their newly released CD, featuring classic country, western swing and jazz. The band perform live at the Sherbrooke Courthouse at 7:30 p.m.
The band will be back on Canada Day, July 1, with a free concert at the Sherbrooke Performance Centre, headlined by ECMA winner Dave Gunning.
Eastern Nova Scotia artists Lisa Hallett, Coleen Benoit and Ronnie Hull will perform a blend of old and new favourites from the country, traditional and gospel styles of music on Thursday, July 7.
On Thursday, July 14, Rosalee Peppard, multiple winner of the Dr. Helen Creighton Folklore Research Award, will return to the courthouse with her enchanting story songs of Nova Scotia.
Renowned for their close family harmonies and high energy picking, three time ECMA winner Birch Mountain Bluegrass return to the courthouse on Thursday, July 21.
Ceilidh at the Courthouse returns on Thursday, July 28 featuring Roly and Ellie Burton, Bob MacDonald, Colin Greenlaw, Alison Carruthers and surprise guests.
