Divers Make Splash on Team Nova Scotia
Six young divers will make a splash on Team Nova Scotia at the 2005 Canada Games in Regina, Sask.
The team's three male and three female divers were selected on Sunday, June 19. They will compete in the one-metre, three-metre and platform events, as well as the three-metre synchronized event, which is a new event for the Summer Games.
The team is managed by Becky Tempesta of Halifax and coached by Jarrett McKay of Halifax.
"Because our team is so young, it's quite likely that all six of them will be diving at the Canada Summer Games again in 2009," said Mr. McKay. "They're young, but strong, athletes and we do have medal hopes for this year."
Names of the divers and other athletes who have been selected for Team Nova Scotia are available in the Meet the Team section of the team's website at http://ns.canadagames.ca/summer2005 . The 2005 Canada Games run from Aug. 6 to 20. Team Nova Scotia will have a maximum of 357 athletes competing in 16 sports during the two weeks of the Games. They are supported by 45 coaches, 20 managers, one boatman and 18 mission staff. Four young artists will participate in the National Artists Program, bringing the team's total to 445 Nova Scotians.
