Province Calls Road-Paving Tender in Halifax County
Drivers travelling on a busy road near East Preston will have a smoother ride after the completion of a road-paving project being tendered by the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Public Works.
The tender is for repaving on Mineville Road from the intersection at Trunk 7, east of East Preston, south for 7.1 kilometres to the intersection of Route 207. The tender closes on Thursday, June 23.
"I'm pleased to have this busy road scheduled for repaving as part of our program to upgrade Nova Scotia's highways," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "Our department is spending $143-million on road construction in 2005-06."
The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
