Colchester County Firm Eyes Export Expansion

A Truro-based leader in custom computer-controlled laser cutting and precision metal work is poised for export expansion.

In just under seven years since start-up, Bartlett Plastics and Precision Machining Limited's sales surpassed the $3 million mark.

The province announced today, June 6, that it is investing $250,000 to help the Colchester County company seek new export opportunities and increase its sales. The loan helps secure the future of 34 full-time quality jobs, 10 to 15 additional sub-contractors, and the promise of a number of new full-time jobs in the near future.

"Bartlett Plastics and Precision Machining is a strategic player in the province's advanced manufacturing sector," said Economic Development Minister Ernest Fage. "The company's expertise in customizing parts enables a number of our exporters to provide superior products to world markets."

A leader in custom computer-controlled laser cutting and precision metal work, Bartlett Plastics and Precision Machining supplies custom-made products to a number of the Atlantic region's major manufacturing enterprises such as dairy, aerospace, hardware, and other industries.

"We have a good, solid business plan that will allow us to increase our markets and sales," said Barry Bartlett, owner and president of the company. "With the province's help, we will be providing more quality employment opportunities for skilled Nova Scotians."

Bartlett Plastics and Precision Machining is an ISO 9002 registered manufacturer of high-precision laser and tool and die work and custom moulded plastic products. The company strength lies in its strong management team, skilled work force and customized product.

The loan, provided under the Industrial Expansion Fund, is fully repayable at competitive interest rates. It supports the province's commitment to Nova Scotians to support rural development, export growth and the development of the advanced manufacturing sector.
