Tender Called For Paving Project On Cobequid Pass

Motorists on the Trans-Canada Highway over the Cobequid Pass will find a good road made even better after the completion of a paving project by the province.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works has advertised a tender for repaving on the westbound lanes of Highway 104 from the overpass over the Mines Bass Road, west of Londonderry, for 3.2 kilometres to the west.

"The Trans-Canada 104 is our major road route in and out of the province so keeping it in top condition is vital," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "This project is being paid for by the Highway 104 Western Alignment Corporation but our department is overseeing the tendering of the contract and the actual construction."

The tender will close on Friday, June 3.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
