Province Calls for Paving Tender in Yarmouth County
People who use the wharf south of Sandford and residents of that Yarmouth County area will benefit from a smoother, stronger road as a result of a paving project tendered by the government of Nova Scotia.
Transportation and Public Works has called for tenders for repaving on Ross Durkee Road from the junction of Main Shore Road south of Sandford, curving west and north for about 3.6 kilometres until it rejoins Main Shore Road again at Sandford.
"Our department is working aggressively to protect and strengthen our existing network of paved roadways," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "This project is scheduled for completion before the end of October."
The tender will close on Friday, June 3.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
