Canada Games Soccer Teams Named

Thirty-four young soccer players will be kickin' it in Regina, Saskatchewan this summer at the 2005 Canada Summer Games from Aug. 6 to 20.

Soccer Nova Scotia announced the men's and women's soccer teams for the Games after returning from a six-day selection camp in Camden, Maine. The teams played against the University of New Hampshire, the University of Maine, and the New Brunswick Canada Games team.

"The purpose of the trip was to engage in competition against teams equal to the Canada Games standard," said Mike Hudson, technical director of Soccer Nova Scotia and coach of the men's team. "The teams fared very well and played excellent games."

Team Nova Scotia will have a maximum of 357 athletes competing in 16 sports during the two weeks of the Games. They are supported by 45 coaches, 20 managers, one boatman and 18 mission staff. Four young artists will participate in the National Artists Program at the Games, bringing the team's total to 445 Nova Scotians.
