Motorists who travel on Trans-Canada Highway 104 near French River, east of Stellarton, will enjoy better driving conditions on an upgraded section of highway after the completion of a road- improvement project this fall.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works advertised a tender recently for repaving on Highway 104 from Exit 27A at Sutherlands River, east for about 6.3 kilometres to west of the French River overpass. Also included in this contract will be upgrading of the Highway 104 bridge over Sutherlands River and the Lamont Road overpass.
"The Trans-Canada Highway helps Nova Scotians stay connected to each other as well as to the rest of the country," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "Keeping the highway in safe driving condition is a high priority with our department."
The tender will close on Thursday, May 12.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
