Tender Called for Paving Project in Hants County

TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--Tender Called for Paving Project in Hants County

Motorists who travel on Trunk Highway 14 between Windsor and Chester will have a safer, more comfortable trip on top-notch pavement after the completion of a paving project that will extend paving work done already in 2004.

Transportation and Public Works advertised a tender recently for repaving on Trunk 14 from the Lunenburg/Hants County line for 9.2 kilometres north to the end of last year's paving project at the junction of New Ross Road, south of Smiths Corner.

"This year's work, when combined with the paving done last year, will mean a significant portion of Trunk 14 has been upgraded in Hants County," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "This is a very popular route across Nova Scotia and I'm pleased that we have been able to schedule this work."

The tender will close on Thursday, May 12.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
