TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--Road Improvement Contract Awarded in Yarmouth County
Motorists will soon be travelling an improved section of Route 340 near Hebron in Yarmouth County.
A $698,300 road-improvement contract for Route 340 was announced recently.
The contract was awarded to Aberdeen Paving Ltd. The work involves repaving on Route 340 from the intersection of Hardscratch Road, north of Hebron, for 4.4 kilometres to the Highway 101 overpass.
"This section of Route 340 is part of a busy connection between Trunk 1 and Highway 101," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works, "This project will result in a smoother, safer ride for motorists."
The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
