Roads in the western and central areas of the province will be the first to see the removal of spring weight restrictions.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works will remove spring weight restrictions on roads in the counties of Yarmouth, Shelburne, Digby, Annapolis, Queens, Kings, Lunenburg, Halifax and Hants effective 12:01 a.m., on Monday, April 25.

Spring weight restrictions will remain in effect until May 2 in the counties of Colchester, Cumberland, Pictou, Antigonish, Guysborough, Richmond, Inverness, Victoria and Cape Breton.

Spring weight restrictions came into effect in early March. The restrictions for trucks are announced each year during spring thaw to help protect roads that are weakened by wet, mild weather.
