Nova Scotia Seafood Industry Showcased
Nova Scotia seafood exporters, suppliers and processors will negotiate with buyers and learn about the latest seafood innovations and technology at the European Seafood Exposition in Brussels, Belgium, from Tuesday, April 26 to Thursday, April 28.
"This event provides a great opportunity for Nova Scotia companies to reaffirm relationships with European buyers and to establish new business markets," said Chris d'Entremont, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. "The department is increasing its presence this year with a booth at the Canadian pavilion. Staff will be promoting Nova Scotia seafood, including haddock, herring and snow crab."
Nova Scotia exported more that $190 million in seafood products to western and eastern regions of Europe in 2004. Lobster was the highest exported species, with more than $80 million in product sold.
The European Seafood Exposition attracts visitors from 100 countries and hosts decision-makers and purchasers who dominate the seafood industry in Europe and around the world.
