Road Paving Contract Awarded Near Bridgewater

TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--Road Paving Contract Awarded Near Bridgewater


A $1.5-million contract will result in road improvements for motorists using a section of Route 325 in Lunenburg County, northwest of Bridgewater.

The contract, announced today, April 14, was awarded to Dexter Construction Co. Ltd. and involves repaving on Route 325 Samuel Oickle Road at West Clifford west for 7.8 kilometres to the junction of Route 208 at Colpton.

"This project is scheduled for completion during the 2005 construction season," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works, "It will return this section of road to top standard and make it safer and more comfortable for users."

The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
