Motorists will soon have a smoother ride while travelling a section of the Lighthouse Route near Peggys Cove.
A $1,751,760 road-improvement contract for Route 333 (Lighthouse Route) was announced today, April 14.
The contract was awarded to Dexter Construction Co. Ltd. and involves repaving on Route 333 near Peggys Cove from Redmonds Road, south for 9.1 kilometres to Paddys Head.
"The Lighthouse Route is one of our most popular tourism routes," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "This project will make the road safer and more comfortable not only for visitors but for residents, as well."
The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
