Nova Scotia Companies Attend Boston Seafood Show
AGRICULTURE/FISHERIES--Nova Scotia Companies Attend Boston Seafood Show
Successful management of the fishery has led to a resurgence of wild Atlantic haddock, providing Nova Scotia fish processors with more quality seafood to sell in the international marketplace.
The Nova Scotia Fish Packers Association will try to do just that when it features the wild Atlantic haddock at this year's International Boston Seafood Show, March 13-15.
"Our haddock stocks on Georges Bank have grown significantly since the late 1990s through the conservation efforts of Nova Scotia fishers," said Chris d'Entremont, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. "With the growth of the haddock stocks, we can provide our customers with a consistent supply."
The International Boston Seafood Show attracts leading manufacturers, distributors and seafood-related companies from all over the world. Networking and business opportunities are provided during the three days of the show.
"The International Boston Seafood Show is a prime opportunity for seafood companies to meet with existing customers and to attract new ones," said Mr. d'Entremont. "Nova Scotia exports over $1 billion in seafood product around the world."
Mr. d'Entremont will lead a delegation of eight Nova Scotia businesses and associations at the trade show:
- MMF Fisheries Ltd. (herring Stichler brand)
- H & H Seafoods Ltd. (lobster processing facility)
- CanJam Trading Ltd. (salted haddock)
- Area 19 Snow Crab Fishermen's Association (snow crab)
- Davis Strait Fisheries Ltd.
- Fisher King Seafoods
- Nova Scotia Arctic Char (farm raised)
- Nova Scotia Fishpackers Association (wild Atlantic haddock).
This year, Nova Scotia has teamed up with Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island to showcase the region in an Atlantic Canada pavilion.
