Museum of Industry Welcomes The Magnetic Hill Zoo

Nova Scotia Museum

Visit the jungle during March break. The Museum of Industry in Stellarton will hold a unique March break exhibit, Go Bananas, from March 12 to 20.

The exhibit is a collaboration between the museum and the Magnetic Hill Zoo, in Moncton, N.B.

Visitors to the museum will enter a jungle environment and go eye to eye with a variety of jungle animals including Ronnie, a black and white ruffed lemur and Peanut, a female squirrel monkey, one of four monkeys in the exhibit.

Other animals on display include white-handed gibbons, macaws, a stork, and a parrot native to Sri Lanka.

There will be a daily slide presentation with the zoo keeper where you can learn about monkeys with jobs and some interesting facts and trivia.

Every morning and afternoon, the Children's Corner will teach kids how to make a monkey's fist knot or learn how a bird's beak also works like common household tools. Children will also learn about the habitats of lemurs and the importance of habitat preservation.

Children can search the jungle for the hidden monkeys or climb aboard the Banana Express, which will lead them on a jungle adventure. Visitors can also tour the museum's galleries to learn more about Nova Scotia's history of work using interactive exhibits and scheduled demonstrations.

The museum's cafeteria will be serving a themed menu of baboon burgers, banana cream pie, and other jungle delicacies.

The museum will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
