Spring weight restrictions for heavy trucks will come into effect on March 7 in five Nova Scotia counties, and on March 14 in the rest of the province.

The restrictions will be in place in Yarmouth, Shelburne, Digby, Annapolis and Queens counties at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, March 7, and at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, March 14 in other areas.

The restrictions on heavy trucks are based on road conditions across the province. As the frost leaves the ground, roadways become vulnerable to damage from heavy trucks.

A list of roads exempt from the restrictions is available on the Transportation and Public Works website at www.gov.ns.ca/tran , and will be published in newspapers on Saturday, March 5, and Saturday, March 12.

The spring weight restrictions will be in effect until May 2.
