Nappan Research Station To Be Discussed with Federal Minister

AGRICULTURE/FISHERIES--Nappan Research Station To Be Discussed with Federal Minister

The future of the Nappan Beef Research Station in Cumberland County is a concern for the province and talk of its possible closure will be addressed fully, said Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Chris d'Entremont today, March 2.

"The Nappan Beef Research Station provides very important research for our beef industry and I will be bringing our concerns to federal Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister Andy Mitchell, while at the agriculture ministers' meetings this week in Ottawa," said Mr. d'Entremont.

"I will impress upon the federal minister the need to maintain this federally operated facility, and I encourage him to work with stakeholders to see what possibilities exist for maintaining it for the industry and the community of Nappan," the minister said.

Mr. d'Entremont is attending meetings of federal, provincial, and territorial agriculture ministers from March 1-3.
