HEALTH--Emergency Health Services Aircraft Makes Precautionary Landing
The Emergency Health Services (EHS) LifeFlight helicopter made a precautionary landing today, Feb. 16. The landing occurred at 1:38 p.m. at Trenton Airport in Trenton.
The aircraft was en route from the Halifax International Airport to New Glasgow to pick up a patient. Members of the neonatal and obstetrical air medical transport team on board are safe and the helicopter landed without incident. The patient was not on board at the time of the incident and is now being transported by ground ambulance under the care of the air transport team to the IWK Health Centre in Halifax.
In compliance with standard procedure, the Department of Health has informed the National Transportation Safety Board. The response to the incident involves a number of organizations, therefore the National Transportation Safety Board is the lead agency for information concerning any investigation into the incident.
The twin-engine helicopter is a dedicated air ambulance operated through a contract with Canadian Helicopters Limited.
