MLAs and Civil Servants Begin French-language Training

ACADIAN AFFAIRS--MLAs and Civil Servants Begin French-language Training

More than half of Nova Scotia's members of the legislative assembly and more than 20 civil servants are going back to school this week to begin French-language training.

The classes, offered by the Office of Acadian Affairs, have been tailored to suit beginner, intermediate and advanced-level participants. "We're thrilled with the enthusiastic response we've had, both from members of the legislature and civil servants who want to learn or improve their ability to speak French," said Acadian Affairs Minister Chris d'Entremont. "This is an important step in improving our ability to serve Acadian and francophone Nova Scotians."

The classes will be held weekly until June at the Acadian Affairs office in Halifax. The courses are being taught by qualified instructors from Université Sainte-Anne.
