New Winter Shelter Opens Two Days Early
The new winter shelter located at St. Patrick's Church in Halifax will open its doors today, Dec. 22 -- two days earlier than expected.
The shelter has been named Pendleton Place, after Rev. Gus and Lorna Pendleton who opened the first out-of-the-cold shelter last year. It will provide beds, shower facilities and breakfast for up to 40 men, women and young people aged 16 and over. The shelter is located in the basement of St. Patrick's Church at 2263 Brunswick St. It will be open from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m daily.
Pendleton Place is operated by the Saint Leonard's Society of Nova Scotia and funded by the Department of Community Services.
