Warning Issued About Globe Light Bulbs
Nova Scotians who have 13 watt, mini-spiral light bulbs made by Globe Electric Company Inc. are urged to check whether they are from a defective batch manufactured in 2002 and 2003.
The defective light bulbs may cause fires or electrical shocks. Underwriters Laboratory, an independent organization which tests products for safety, recommends that consumers stop using the bulbs and return them to the point of purchase.
The defective products can be identified by information printed on the base of the light bulb. The information includes the file number E197131 and date codes from BH0102 or BH012 to BH2003 or BH203.
The light bulbs also bear an unauthorized Underwriters Laboratory certification mark: UL. Products certified for use in Canada should bear the mark cUL.
More information on the warning is available in news releases on the Underwriters Laboratory website at www.ul.com and on Globe Electric's website at www.globe-electric.com .
