Port Clyde Bridge to Reopen
The Port Clyde bridge on Route 309 in Shelburne County is being repaired.
Engineers with the Department of Transportation and Public Works met with consulting engineers earlier this week and developed a repair plan which involves reinforcing the bridge truss, making it safe for vehicles weighing up to 12-tonnes. The repairs are expected to begin immediately and take about three weeks to complete, weather permitting.
A routine maintenance check led the Department of Transportation and Public Works to close the bridge on Nov. 25 for further inspection.
A replacement for the existing bridge is still on schedule for mid-2005.
