New Press Secretary Appointed
Television/radio producer, writer and former government communicator Hugh Fraser is Premier John Hamm's new press secretary.
The appointment is effective Thursday, Nov. 25.
"Hugh Fraser's experience in the broadcast media will be a tremendous asset to our team," said Premier John Hamm. "I look forward to working closely with him as our government focuses more on building brighter futures for the people of Nova Scotia, especially among our children."
A married father of two and longtime Halifax resident, Mr. Fraser earned a bachelor of arts (honours) degree from Dalhousie University and a master of journalism degree from Carleton University in Ottawa. From 1992 to 1999, he worked as lineup editor, news writer and chase producer for CBC Newsworld. In 2000, he worked for the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Public Works as a communications officer, then worked for Health Canada as a communications advisor until the spring of 2001.
For the last three and a half years, Mr. Fraser has performed a variety of duties for the CBC, including producer for The Docket, CBC Newsworld's legal affairs program, producer for Canada Now, the nightly newscast for CBC Television Nova Scotia and producer for CBC Radio's Information Morning in Halifax.
