Ombudsman to Review Complaint
The Office of the Ombudsman has agreed to help the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Public Works review a complaint from a Hants County woman who says the department did not react quickly enough during last weekend's snowstorm.
Transportation and Public Works Minister Ron Russell asked the Ombudsman's staff to carry out a review of the department's actions and snow clearing procedures in Hants County on Saturday, Nov. 13.
"I want Nova Scotians to have the utmost confidence that the Department of Transportation and Public Works is doing its job, and doing it well, especially during emergencies," said Mr. Russell.
The department's priority is to clear the 100-series highways first, followed by trunks, routes, local roads and gravel roads, within 24 hours of the end of a snowstorm.
