Nova Scotia's television industry earned an outstanding 40 nominations for the 19th Annual Gemini Awards.

The mini-series Shattered City: The Halifax Explosion and the series This Hour Has 22 Minutes lead the pack with nine nominations each.
Shattered City received nominations in Best Direction in a Dramatic Program or Mini-Series; Best Photography in a Dramatic Program or Series; Best Sound in a Dramatic Program; Best Costume Design; Best Achievement in Makeup; Best Visual Effects; Best Original Music Score; Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role; and Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role.
This Hour Has 22 Minutes was nominated for Best Comedy Program or Series; Best Direction in a Comedy Program or Series; Best Writing in a Comedy Series; Best Sound in a Comedy, Variety or Performing Arts Program or Series; Best Production Design in a Non-Dramatic Program or Series; Best Costume Design; Best Achievement in Makeup; Best Individual Performance in Comedy Program or Series; and Best Ensemble Performance.
The series Snakes & Ladders was nominated for Best Dramatic Series; Best Writing in a Dramatic Series; Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Role; and Best Performance by an Actress in a Guest Role.
Trailer Park Boys received four nods including Best Comedy Program or Series; Best Direction in a Comedy Program or Series; Best Writing in a Comedy Series; and Best Ensemble Performance.
Men of the Deeps is nominated in the Best Performing Arts Program or Series or Arts Documentary Program or Series; Best Direction in a Documentary Program; Best Photography in a Documentary Program or Series; and Best Sound in a Comedy, Variety or Performing Arts Program or Series.
The lifestyle programs Chef at Large and The Food Hunter both received nominations in the Best Direction in a Lifestyle Program category. Local entrepreneur and author Pete Luckett was also recognized for his hosting duties on The Food Hunter.
The stop-motion animation series Poko was nominated in the Best Pre-School Program or Series; and Best Direction in a Children's Program or Series. In addition, From the Heart: The Life & Times of Janet Connors got the nod for Best Writing in a Documentary Program or Series, and Made in Canada for Best Ensemble Performance. Rounding out the list, the locally produced news program The Docket was nominated in the Best News Information Series category; The Spirit of Annie Mae was nominated in the Best Biography Documentary program; and Street Cents was nominated in the Best Children's or Youth Non-Fiction Program or Series.
The Gemini Awards celebrate excellence in English-language television across 87 award categories. The Geminis will be broadcast live on CBC on Dec. 13.
