Tender awarded for Barrington Bypass
Drivers in the Barrington area of the province will soon notice work beginning on an improved, two-lane section of Highway 103.
Dexter Construction has been awarded a $3.5-million tender to upgrade two sections of Highway 103 in Shelburne County. The project involves the construction of a new 8.3-kilometre, two- lane section of Highway 103 in the Barrington area.
Transportation and Public Works Minister Ron Russell said, "This new road will be part of Nova Scotia's controlled access highway system, providing a safer driving environment for motorists."
Construction is expected to begin this fall and includes grading work from Barrington River westerly to the Oak Park Connector Interchange and the bridge at Barrington River West (Willis) Branch.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries.
