NEW WORK

SHELBURNE COUNTY: Port Clyde Bridge

The Port Clyde Bridge on Route 309, located 3.4 kilometres south of Highway 103, will have a 12-tonne weight restriction until the bridge is replaced.

Heavy vehicles are advised to use the Clyde River Bridge on Highway 103.

DIGBY COUNTY: Gates Bridge

The Gates Bridge, located near the intersection of Sissiboo Road and Gates Lane, will have a 10-tonne weight restriction until bridge repairs are completed in 2005.

Heavy vehicles are advised to use Trunk 1 and cross the Sissiboo River at Weymouth.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Indian Point Bridge

There will be one-lane closures on the Indian Point Bridge near Mahone Bay, from Monday, Oct. 25 to Friday, Oct. 29, while the bridge is replaced. The bridge will also be closed to loads wider than 3.5 metres (11 feet).

RICHMOND COUNTY: Port Royal Bridge

The Port Royal Bridge will be closed for repairs from Monday, Oct. 25 to Wednesday, Nov. 3. Motorists are asked to detour via MacEachern Road, which is adjacent to the bridge.

CONTINUING WORK

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Highway 104

There will be one-lane closures on Highway 104 on the West River Bridge in Antigonish, near the intersection of Church Street and the highway, until Tuesday, Nov. 30. Road crews will be carrying out joint replacement work and repaving.

Traffic control persons will be in place and motorists are asked to use caution while travelling in the area.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Route 337

Two sections of Route 337 will have intermittent lane closures until Sunday, Oct. 31.

One section starts at the intersection of Route 337 and Marsh Road at Livingstone Cove and goes seven kilometres west. The other section starts at Cribbons Point Road and goes 2.4 kilometres to South Lakevale Road.

Work will take place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Traffic control will consist of a pilot vehicle.

CAPE BRETON COUNTY: Coxheath Road

Coxheath Road will have occasional daytime lane closures until Wednesday, Dec. 15, while the Coxheath Road Bridge is replaced. New interchange ramps will also be constructed. Work will continue until June 2005. Traffic control persons will be in place. A detour is available via Route 4 and Blacketts Lake Road.

CAPE BRETON COUNTY: Route 305

Route 305/Seaview Drive, will have occasional lane closures until Sunday, Oct. 31, while the Leitches Creek Bridge is replaced. Work will take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Traffic controllers will be in place when necessary.

CAPE BRETON COUNTY: Trunk 4

Three kilometres of Trunk 4 will have periodic lane closures near Middle Cape until Wednesday, Nov. 10, for repaving. Work will take place west of Breac Brook Bridge to the top of the hill in Middle Cape, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Traffic control will consist of a pilot vehicle.

Motorists can expect delays and are advised to use alternate routes where possible.

CAPE BRETON COUNTY: Highway 125

The shoulder lanes on the four-lane section of Highway 125 near Sydney River will be closed 24 hours a day until Wednesday, Dec. 15, while the highway and the Sydney River Bridge are widened and the Coxheath Road Bridge is replaced. Work in the area will continue until June 2005.

Traffic control will consist of traffic drums and concrete barriers. A detour is available via Route 305.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Trunk 2

A section of Trunk 2 at Shad Brook will be closed for road work until Sunday, Oct. 31.

A single-lane detour around the work will be constructed and traffic will be controlled by traffic lights. The maximum width on the detour structure is 3.1 metres.

COLCHESTER/HALIFAX COUNTIES: Route 224

Route 224, from the intersection of Route 277 at Gay's River to the Elderbank Road, about six kilometres, will have intermittent lane closures due to repaving. Traffic control will consist of a pilot vehicle. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will be complete by Friday, Nov. 5.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Furlong Bridge

The Furlong Bridge on Trunk 2 near Southampton will be closed until Sunday, Oct. 31, while the bridge is replaced.

Traffic will be rerouted to a temporary two-lane panel bridge parallel to the existing bridge.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Trunk 7

Trunk 7 will have intermittent one-lane closures until Sunday, Oct. 31. The closures will be in effect from 1.3 kilometres west of Liscomb River to the MacKinley Point Loop Road at Spanish Ship Bay.

Work will take place from daylight to dark, Monday to Friday, with some weekend work.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Trunk 16

Trunk 16, between Boylston and Guysborough, will have intermittent lane closures for repaving until Sunday, Oct. 31.

Work will take place from daylight to dark, Monday to Friday, with some weekend work.

HALIFAX COUNTY: Old Guysborough Road

The Old Guysborough Road, between Pratt and Whitney Drive and Goff's Road, will be closed to all traffic until further notice due to an airplane crash at Halifax International Airport on Oct. 14.

Motorists are being re-routed via Oldham Road in Enfield.

HALIFAX COUNTY: Route 333

There will be one-lane closures on Route 333, from Brookside Road south to Burkes Road, until Tuesday, Nov. 30. Crews will be patching and repaving the road.

Traffic control will consist of traffic control persons, signs and cones. Motorists may experience delays and are advised to use an alternate route.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 102

Two sections of Highway 102 will have periods of one-lane closures until Sunday, Oct. 31.

Section one is about eight kilometres south on Highway 102 from Exit 2 (Kearney Lake) to Ralston Avenue, off Bayers Road.

Section two is about three kilometres north on Highway 102 from Ralston Avenue to Exit 1A (Highway 103).

The closures may take place 24 hours a day except between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. on inbound lanes, and between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on outbound lanes.

Motorists may experience delays and are advised to use an alternate route.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 103

Blasting will take place on Highway 103, between exits 4 and 5, between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. until Tuesday, Nov. 30. Both eastbound and westbound motorists may experience short delays. Motorists on Trunk 3 near Exit 4 may also experience delays. Traffic controllers will be in place. Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 103, Exit 4 (Hubley)

The existing bridge at Exit 4 (Hubley) has been removed and work has begun on its replacement. Motorists crossing Highway 103 on Trunk 3 are asked to detour, with caution, over a temporary structure. Efforts will be made to minimize delays at peak travelling times.

The work at Exit 4 will continue until the end of January 2005.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 103, Exit 5 (Hammonds Plains Road)

From 6 p.m. today, Oct. 22, to 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, traffic will be rerouted off Highway 103 at Exit 5 (Hammonds Plains Road), while the existing bridge is removed.

Traffic will be directed to exit the highway at the eastbound and westbound off-ramps, cross Hammonds Plains Road and re-enter Highway 103 via the on-ramps.

Work will take place over the weekend. Traffic is expected to return to normal on Monday, Oct. 25, but motorists are advised to use caution while becoming familiar with the temporary route change.

Work at Exit 5 will continue until the end of January 2005.

There will be periods of one-lane closures on Highway 111 at Mic Mac Boulevard until Friday, Oct. 29 to allow for interchange modifications and repaving.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 101

There will be one-lane closures on Highway 101, between the Ellershouse underpass and the Wentworth Road overpass until Saturday, Oct. 30.

Motorists may experience delays and may take an alternate route via Trunk 1, between Exit 4 and Exit 5. Traffic control will consist of traffic control persons and a pilot vehicle.

The speed limit at the St. Croix interchange at Exit 4 is reduced to 80 km/h until further notice.

The Station Road Bridge in Scotch Village will be closed for repairs until Friday, Oct. 29.

Motorists are advised to use an alternate route via Vaughan Road.

The Port Hastings Rotary on Highway 104 will have lane closures until Sunday, Oct. 31. Road crews will be repaving between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. weekdays. Traffic controllers will be in place.

Simpson Bridge on Gaspereau River Road is closed for major repairs. A detour is available. Traffic control consists of signs.

PICTOU COUNTY: Highway 104

There will be periods of one-lane closures on Highway 104 from Trunk 4, extending 6 kilometres westerly until Monday, Nov. 1, while the highway is repaved. Traffic control will consist of flagpersons and a pilot vehicle.

Work will be carried out between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday.

The Joudrey Bridge in River John will be closed to all traffic until Sunday, Oct. 31, while the bridge is replaced.

The Shelburne Bridge on Trunk 3 will be closed to all traffic until Friday, Nov. 19, while the bridge is repaired.

Motorists are advised to use a detour that follows Ohio Road to the Welshtown Bridge and Welshtown Road.

Trunk 30 (Cabot Trail) will have lane closures from the Yankee Line Road intersection to 1.5 kilometres west of Upper Middle River Bridge until Sunday, Oct. 31, for repaving.

The closures will take place between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. and traffic controllers will be in place.

Hardscratch Road, between the Yarmouth Town Line and Greenville Road, will have lane closures until Saturday, Oct. 23. Road crews will be carrying out ditching, culvert installation and repaving.
