Sherbrooke to Host Croft Book Tour

Sherbrooke Village and Eastern Counties Regional Library will host a reading by hometown son Clary Croft on Friday, Oct. 29, at the Courthouse in Sherbrooke.

The presentation, sponsored by Nimbus Publishing, is part of a tour promoting his latest book, Nova Scotia Moments.

The book features a collection of more than 400 profiles as well as accounts of events covering more than over 500 years in the region's history. From Captain Kidd to Prohibition; from the origin of "Bluenose" to the origin of the Nova Scotian Tartan; from the first automobile to the origins of our famous lobster suppers, Clary Croft writes with enthusiasm and genuine affection about his native province.

Mr. Croft wears many hats -- entertainer, writer, historian, folklorist, and CBC radio contributor. Canadian Folklore described him as an "investigator of folksong." The annual publication said his roles as folk singer, costumier, media researcher, and a friend of Helen Creighton's "have given him a variety of knowledge about the province."

The presentation will begin at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a question and answer period and some light refreshments. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
