Boil Water Order In Place For Cheticamp

TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--Boil Water Order In Place For Cheticamp

An order to boil water has been issued today, Oct. 1, to all residents of Cheticamp who are on the Department of Transportation and Public Works Water System.

Due to water quality problems and the possibility of unsafe water, consumers are advised to boil all water for at least two minutes before drinking, making ice cubes, washing foods, brushing teeth, or any other activity requiring human consumption.

This is to be done until further notice.

The water utility is doing all it can to determine the cause of the problem and to remedy it as quickly as possible. The water utility and the Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Labour are continuing to monitor the water quality closely.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works is in direct contact with the hospital, nursing home and school in the community.

The department apologizes for any inconvenience.
