Work Moves Forward on Highway 103
Motorists will continue to see more progress this fall on the Highway 103 twinning project.
Three contracts worth more than $13 million have recently been awarded for new interchanges and approaches at Exit 4 at Hubley and Exit 5 at Tantallon. The contracts also include the ongoing work to twin the highway between the two exits.
"These awards are the next important stage of the Highway 103 twinning project," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "The province remains committed to improving this major artery in Halifax Regional Municipality to benefit the many people who travel this route every day."
The contracts were awarded to Dexter Construction and work has already begun. Work on the interchanges is expected to be complete in spring 2005.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
