EMERGENCY MEASURES ORGANIZATION--Take Precautions Because of Heavy Rainfall Advisory
The Nova Scotia Emergency Measures Organization (EMO) is advising the public to take precautions as the remnants of tropical storms Gaston and Hermine move toward Nova Scotia later today, Aug. 31.
Environment Canada is forecasting heavy rains, with up to 50 millimetres estimated in heavier downpour areas, and possible thunderstorms.
"Nova Scotians should be listening for updated weather forecasts and act accordingly," said Ernest Fage, Minister responsible for the Emergency Measures Act. "People living or working in low- lying areas, or areas prone to flooding, should watch the weather forecasts and motorists should also use extreme caution when travelling."
