Road Improvements for Hants County
Residents of Hants County will see more road improvements this summer.
A contract worth $870,000 has recently been awarded for repaving five kilometres of Trunk 14 near Rawdon.
"This project is part of the province's continual upgrading of the trunk highways in Nova Scotia," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "All our highway upgrades benefit residents and visitors to our province."
The project includes repaving Trunk 14, from Route 202 at Cheese Factory Corner, westerly to Route 354 at Beaverbank Road.
The contract was awarded to Basin Contracting. Work has started and is expected to be complete by Sept. 30.
Another 10 kilometres of Trunk 14, from New Ross Road northerly to Windsor Forks, was completed earlier this summer.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
