Granville Ferry Provincial Building Construction Set To Begin
COMMUNITY SERVICES--Granville Ferry Provincial Building Construction Set To Begin
Construction is set to begin on a new provincial building in Annapolis County. Community Services Minister, David Morse, joined staff, representatives of Annapolis County Family and Children's Services agency, local government and community members at a sod-turning ceremony at the building site in Granville Ferry today, Aug. 16.
The new provincial building, to be located in Granville Ferry, will house staff from the Department of Community Services and the Annapolis County Family and Children's Services agency. It will offer a healthy and safe working environment with an abundance of natural light, ample meeting space and an accessible location for clients and staff.
"The new provincial building in Granville Ferry will provide an excellent facility to work in and serve both our clients and the community, with an improved meeting and work space for families and staff," said Mr. Morse. "It will be a marvellous asset to the local community."
"Today's sod-turning is the result of the hard work of many people," said Beth Forsyth, board chair, Annapolis County Family and Children's Services agency. "We are looking forward to having all of our employees under one roof when the building is complete."
The modern, one-storey building will be more than 5,500 square feet and will provide working and meeting space for 27 staff and their clients. Construction is expected to be complete in spring 2005.
