N.S. INSURANCE REVIEW BOARD--Public Hearing on Confidentiality of Rate Filings
The Nova Scotia Insurance Review Board wants to hear from insurance companies and other interested parties on the issue of confidentiality of documents filed with the board. Based on submissions presented, the board will make a decision on what information should be held in confidence.
The hearing will take place on Thursday, Aug. 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. If necessary, it will continue on Friday, Aug. 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be held in the hearing room at the Utility and Review Board offices, 1601 Lower Water St., 3rd floor, Summit Place, Halifax.
The board's practice and procedural guidelines allow for hearings to take place on issues of broad public interest. This hearing will address information filed by companies as outlined in the board's disclosure requirements. For example, rate filings must include information such as a company's name, contact information and proprietary information. A full list of the disclosure requirements is available on the board's website at www.gov.ns.ca/nsirb .
All written submissions will be posted on the Nova Scotia Insurance Review Board website and will also be available for viewing at the board's office. Submissions must be filed with the board's office no later than Monday, Aug. 16.
Those who would like to make an oral submission can do so by registering in advance. The length of oral submissions is yet to be determined, as it depends on the number of registrants at the hearings.
