Thursday Visitor Passes to be Honoured Friday
Visitors who purchased Thursday's single day passes for visits on the Tall Ships, and who had difficulty boarding vessels, will have their passes honoured on Friday, July 30.
"There were instances on Thursday, July 29 where people were denied access to certain vessels because they did not know that they had to be prepared to verify their identities with photo ID," said Mike Patrick, operations manager for Tall Ships 2004. "In those cases we are prepared to honour those passes on Friday."
In other cases, vessels, which arrived early, may not have been opened to visitors until Friday.
The requirement to have personal identification is part of new port security regulations, which came into effect on July 1.
Mr. Patrick said while visitors will not automatically be required to show identification, staff on some vessels may periodically ask for ID. Children under the age of 16 are not required to show ID.
