Thank You to Motorists

The Department of Transportation and Public Works is sending out a big thank you to motorists who took alternate routes Wednesday, July 21 while the Bedford Bypass, Trunk 7, was being repaired.

"We appreciate the public taking this seriously and responding to our traffic advisories," said Transportation and Public Works Minister Ron Russell. "Traffic volumes through the site during rush hour were extremely low, which meant workers could continue working to repair the road as quickly as possible."

Transportation and Public Works staff were called Wednesday morning to investigate a large hole in the road, near the intersection where the road divides to Sackville and Bedford.

Work crews responded quickly to repair the road and minimize disruption to traffic. The road was completely reopened to traffic around 8 p.m. Wednesday. The cause of the sink hole is still being investigated.
