New Management for Steam Mill Grain Centre

The Steam Mill Grain Centre, located at Steam Mill, Kings Co., will continue to provide Nova Scotia's farmers with a place to store, dry, clean and handle their grain thanks to new management, Chris d'Entremont, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, announced today, July 13.

Big East Co-operative Limited is a newly formed co-operative that has entered into an agreement with the department's Nova Scotia Farm Loan Board to operate the storage facility.

"Big East Co-operative Limited is owned by local farmers and this management agreement will continue to provide access to the facility for the farming community," said Mr. d'Entremont.

"We've been working with the co-operative for the past several months and believe that this arrangement will provide continued benefits for agriculture," said Leo Cox, chairman of the Nova Scotia Farm Loan Board.
