Committee to Examine Petroleum Pricing

A select committee of the Nova Scotia legislature will travel the province to talk to Nova Scotians about petroleum product pricing.

The committee was established to investigate the supply and pricing of fuels, including gasoline and home heating oil. The committee will seek input from consumers, producers, suppliers and operators, and will make recommendations to ensure reasonable product prices.

Members of the all-party select committee on petroleum product pricing are MLAs Brooke Taylor, Jim DeWolfe, Frank Corbett, Howard Epstein, Charlie Parker, Russell MacKinnon, Danny Graham, Gerald Sampson and chair Bill Dooks.

Meetings will take place between July 14 and July 20, each one beginning at 7 p.m. Halifax will host two meetings, one at 2 p.m. and another at 7 p.m.

Locations are as follows:

  • Wednesday, July 14: Yarmouth, Rodd Colony Harbour Inn, 6 Forest St.
  • Thursday, July 15: Bridgewater, Auberge Wandlyn Inn, 50 North St.
  • Friday, July 16: Halifax, Province House, 1726 Hollis St. (both meetings)
  • Monday, July 19: Sydney, Delta Sydney, 300 Esplanade
  • Tuesday, July 20: Truro, Best Western Glengarry, 150 Willow St.

Written submissions will also be accepted and should be filed with the committee no later than July 30.
