Province Moves Forward on Bedford Ice Rink Project

TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--Province Moves Forward on Bedford Ice Rink Project

A new ice rink project in Bedford is going to help local residents skate towards a heathier future.

A three-rink ice complex is now set to proceed on five hectares of land near Duke Street and Highway 102. The province has sold the land to a developer, Banc Development Limited. The project is expected to be completed within a year.

"The province is working with the community to create a wonderful new recreational facility, one that will contribute to a healthier population," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works, today, June 30. "It's great that we can help."

"This sale of provincial land will give children more opportunities for recreation and will improve the health of our community," said Health Promotion Minister Rodney MacDonald. "Across government departments, we're helping communities provide opportunities for people to be active."
