Canso Causeway to be Resurfaced
The ride into Cape Breton is going to get smoother.
Highways crews are planning to resurface part of the Canso Causeway and repave three kilometres of the Port Hastings Rotary.
"This work will result in better rides for residents and tourists," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "We are upgrading the road network to better serve Nova Scotians."
The causeway resurfacing covers four kilometres and there will be three kilometres of repaving on the rotary.
Work on the causeway is expected to be completed by Aug. 31, and work on the rotary by Oct. 31.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains an inventory of 3,800 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
