NEW WORK

CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Highway 104

There will be alternating lane closures on the River Phillip Bridge, on Highway 104 eastbound, near Oxford from Monday, June 21 to Monday, July 12. Repairs are being carried out on the bridge which is located 800 metres east of Exit 6.

Maximum load width at the bridge will be 4.3 metres. Wider vehicles are advised to take an alternate route.

Traffic control will consist of flashing light units and signage.

DIGBY COUNTY: Sissiboo River Bridge

The Sissiboo River Bridge will be reduced to one lane from Monday, June 21 to Friday, July 2 while bridge repairs are carried out.

Traffic control will consist of traffic control persons. Work will take place between 7:30 a.m and 6 p.m.

HANTS COUNTY: Indian Road

A 7.6-kilometre section of Indian Road, near Shubenacadie will be closed on Tuesday, June 22 and Wednesday, June 23. Culvert replacement will be carried out on the section of road between North Salem Road and Cross Road. Detours are available via both roads.

Work will take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

CONTINUING WORK

CAPE BRETON COUNTY: Barra Strait Bridge

Effective Friday, June 18 the Barra Strait Bridge at Grand Narrows will be fully operational for marine traffic. Painting of the lift spans has been completed and clearance is no longer restricted.

CAPE BRETON COUNTY: Highway 105

Motorists are advised that there will be full-lane closures on Highway 105 between Groves Point Road and the Highway 125 interchange, near Halfway Road until Wednesday, June 30. Both directions of traffic will be affected periodically while road crews carry out cold planing and asphalt paving.

Most of the work will take place at night, between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. weekdays, and between 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. weekends.

Alternate routes will be available for local traffic only via Route 305 or the Georges River Road. Traffic control will consist of traffic control persons.

Motorists should expect short delays during these times and are asked to use extra caution when driving in this area.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Highway 102

There will be intermittent lane closures on two sections of Highway 102 until Tuesday, Aug. 31. Traffic travelling in northbound lanes will be affected periodically while repaving is carried out. Work will take place daily between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Section one begins 1.3 kilometres north of Commo Road, near Stewiacke, and stretches 5.3 kilometres to Shortts Lake Road Multiplate, near Brookfield.

Section two begins from the north side of Robie Structure, near Truro, and stretches 3.4 kilometres to the intersection of Highway 102 and Highway 104.

Traffic control will consist of signage and motorists are asked to use extra caution while driving in these areas.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Highway 104

There will be periods of one-lane closures on Highway 104 until Thursday, Sept. 30. The closures begin 800 metres west of Exit 17, near Valley Cross Roads and extend 5.5 kilometres easterly to the Manganese Mines Overpass. Traffic in eastbound lanes will be affected and lane width will be reduced to 4.5 metres in the Exit 17 area.

Road crews will be carrying out repaving and structure maintenance between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. daily.

Traffic control will consist of signage and motorists are asked to use extra caution while travelling in this area.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Route 209

Motorists are advised that Route 209, from North Greville Road westerly, will be reduced to one lane until further notice.

Road crews will be carrying out ditching and repaving work between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. weekdays. Traffic control will consist of traffic control persons.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Various locations

There will be lane closures on various trunks, routes and local roads in Cumberland County until Wednesday, June 30. During this period, road crews will be carrying out paving, shouldering and gravel patching.

Work will take place between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. weekdays and a single lane will be open at all times during construction.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 101

One lane will be closed on the ramp onto the Trunk 1 underpass structure off Highway 101 in Lower Sackville until Wednesday, June 30. Road crews will be carrying out bridge rehabilitation work.

The lane closure will be in effect 24 hours a day until the work is completed. Traffic control will consist of barrels and barriers.

One lane will remain open at all times, but motorists may experience delays and are asked to use exercise extra caution when driving in this area.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 103

Blasting will take place on Highway 103, at exits 3 and 4, between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. until September 2004. Both eastbound and westbound motorists may experience short delays. Traffic control consists of traffic control persons.

HANTS COUNTY: Elmsdale Bridge

Elmsdale Bridge on Trunk 2 between Elmsdale and Lantz is closed until September 2004. A detour is available around the bridge. Traffic control consists of a detour sign.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Cabot Trail (Trunk 30)

Motorists are advised that there will be one-lane closures on the Cabot Trail (Trunk 30) until Wednesday, June 30, while repaving work is being carried out. The closures will begin at Point de Havre Road in Cheticamp and extend north to Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

The closures will be in effect weekdays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Both directions of traffic will be affected periodically.

Traffic control will be in place and motorists are asked to use extra caution while driving in this area.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Grand Etang Bridge

Heavy trucks will be forced to detour around the Grand Etang Bridge between Margaree and Cheticamp, on the Cabot Trail until further notice.

A detour for heavy trucks is available via Pembrooke Lake Road and Carding Mill Road.

The weight restrictions are posted and vary depending on the number of axles on the truck.

KINGS COUNTY: Simpson Bridge

Simpson Bridge on Gaspereau River Road is closed for major repairs. Detour signage is available.

Toney River Bridge on Carmichael Road in Pictou County is closed until further notice. Traffic control consists of signage. A detour is available on Popular Hill Road and Meadowville Station Road.

PICTOU COUNTY: Joudrey Road

The southern end of Joudrey Road, off Route 6 in Pictou West, is closed to all traffic until further notice while bridge inspections are carried out.

A detour is available via Mountain Road or Louisville Road. Signs are posted indicating alternate routes.
