Highway 104 Gets $1.2-million Upgrade
TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--Highway 104 Gets $1.2-million Upgrade
Another section of one of Nova Scotia's most travelled highways is receiving a $1.2 million upgrade.
Highway 104 in Colchester County is being repaved, from Exit 17 to the Manganese Mines overpass, about 5.5 kilometres. The shoulders will also be repaired.
"Our major highways help drive the economy in Nova Scotia and that's why we are putting needed investments into our 100-series highways' network," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "These investments help build a stronger province."
S.W. Weeks Const. Ltd. was awarded the contract and work is to be completed by Sept. 30.
Mr. Russell recently announced a $1.7-million contract to repave nearly eight kilometres of another section of Highway 104 and one overpass.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains an inventory of 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
