Repaving Project Announced for Yarmouth County
TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--Repaving Project Announced for Yarmouth County
A $1.1-million road construction project to repave 5.5 kilometres of roadway in the Brazil Lake/Pleasant Valley area of Yarmouth County will soon begin.
"This is an important project for Yarmouth County residents and visitors to the area," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "This work will improve public safety and build a stronger road network."
The construction contract has been awarded to Dexter Construction. Work is scheduled to be completed by Sept. 30.
Roads that will be repaved as part of this project include:
- Brazil Lake Road from Brazil Lake Corner to Bloomfield Road
- Bloomfield Road from Hamilton Road Intersection to the end of the pavement
- Valley Crescent from Bloomfield Road southerly to Route 340
- Hamilton Road from Route 340 to Bloomfield Road Intersection
The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains an inventory of 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices located in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
