HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION -Board of Inquiry Probes Complaint Against Kentville Police

Nova Scotia's Human Rights Commission has appointed a board of inquiry to consider a complaint of employment discrimination against the Kentville police force.

The complaint of gender discrimination involves Const. Patricia Saunders of Kentville. Const. Saunders alleges her employment with the town's police force was terminated because she was pregnant.

Gilles Deveau has been appointed chair of the board of inquiry for the complaint, which will be heard beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 7, at the Wandlyn Inn, 7270 Highway 1 in Kentville. The hearing is scheduled to continue through to Friday, June 11.

Boards of inquiry are the final stage in the human rights complaint process. They are independent, public hearings into complaints of discrimination.
