Porters Lake Open House

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

The Department of Natural Resources will hold an open house at Porters Lake Provincial Park on Saturday, June 12.

"Hurricane Juan severely impacted Porters Lake park," said Natural Resources Minister Richard Hurlburt. "Due to the amount of site damage and the need to reconstruct the park, we have decided to keep the park closed for the 2004 season. The June 12 open house will give Nova Scotians an opportunity to see first- hand what changes have taken place."

The public is invited to visit the park between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to view the damage and discuss redevelopment plans for the camping and day-use areas with department staff.

"Trees that had been damaged have subsequently been removed," said Mr. Hurlburt. "The changes, however, provide us with new park opportunities such as highlighting view planes of the lake and providing walk-in campsites."

Porters Lake Provincial Park is located on West Porters Lake Road and can be reached by taking Exit 19 off of Highway 107.
