Road Improvements for Cumberland County

TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--Road Improvements for Cumberland County

Better roads are coming for residents of Cumberland County.

A tender call has recently been announced to repave about 10 kilometres of Trunk 6 from the town line at Amherst east to Ripley Loop.

"This project is part of our investment in building better roads for the people of Nova Scotia," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "Repaving Trunk 6 will mean a stronger road for residents and tourists."

The tender closes Friday, June 4 and work is expected to be completed by Sept. 30.

This announcement follows a $1.4-million commitment to repave part of Route 209, also in Cumberland County.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains an inventory of 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
