Highway 101 Repaving Work Moves Forward

TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--Highway 101 Repaving Work Moves Forward

The old asphalt on Highway 101 is going to be like new following a major repaving project this summer, work that will benefit residents, tourists and the commercial trucking sector.

The province has tendered for the repaving and resurfacing of 20 kilometres of Highway 101, from the railway overpass at Stillwater to Newport Station Road Overpass towards Windsor.

"This work is overdue and it's needed," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "This investment will extend the life of an important piece of roadway in our province."

The department is also tendering for the repaving of 5.6 kilometres of Wentworth Road, from the Windsor town line to Trunk 14 at Sweets Corner.

Work was completed last year to create four lanes of Highway 101 from Mount Uniacke to Ellershouse, however, part of the roadway was not repaved.

Both tenders close June 10, and both tenders are to be completed by Sept. 30.
